Birth Trauma Resolution Therapy
Pauline now offers appointments for Birth Trauma Resolution Therapy.
Every birth experience is unique. While some families look back on birth with joy, others may be left feeling frightened, overwhelmed or traumatised by what happened. Difficult memories of birth may linger long after the event and may replay in the background of daily life, while you are trying to navigate the demands of caring for a new baby. Over time, these intrusive memoires or thoughts may become exhausting, triggering, and overwhelming. Many parents experience anxiety, stress, and struggle to process or understand the intensity of their feelings, which can impact early parenthood and infant feeding.
Birth Trauma Resolution Therapy is a safe, gentle, solution-focused therapy. It can turn a traumatic memory into a normal memory without the highly charged emotions attached to it. This therapy allows parents to regain emotional balance, offering the mental clarity needed to focus on the transition to parenting and establishing a positive feeding experience.
If you’re ready to begin your recovery from pregnancy, birth, or feeding trauma, take the first step by reaching out to me. Let’s talk about how this therapy can support you on your journey to healing.
Birth Trauma Resolution Therapy (BTR) Session
The BTR process begins with an initial, in-depth session that builds trust, validates your experience, and guides you toward emotional healing. Follow-up sessions provide ongoing support and work to reduce the emotional charge attached to traumatic memories.
What’s Involved in a BTR Session?
Initial Session (90 minutes):
Building trust and rapport.
Listening to and validating your personal story of trauma.
Setting goals and agreeing on a plan for therapy.
Learning breathing techniques to calm your nervous system.
Guided meditation practice to begin the healing process.
You will receive a personal guided meditation to use between sessions.
Many clients begin to feel a shift after this session, as it may be the first time they truly feel heard and understood.
Second Session (60 minutes):
Introducing the Rewind Technique, the cornerstone of BTR.
This technique helps draw negative emotions away from your experience by guiding you into a deep relaxation state, allowing you to view the trauma from a calm, safe space.
The process helps the brain reduce negative emotions and opens the possibility for positive feelings to emerge.
What’s Involved in a BTR Session?
Subsequent Sessions (60 minutes):
Focus on building confidence, resilience, and trust.
You’ll develop tools to help you move forward without being emotionally triggered by past traumatic memories.
The goal is to help you reimagine a more positive future, free from the emotional weight of your trauma.
